White Hot | Decor all White

White Hot | Decor all White

White interiors are always hot. White Hot. It is hands down the only colour palette that is consistently on trend, always. White can be injected in many ways into your home. If you choose a cool white, with grey tones, it is a fresh, contemporary almost art gallery feel, that can work in all homes.

Or perhaps you prefer a warmer white. One with a yellow base. This can be applied in a south facing room, (Southern Hemisphere readers) which is traditionally cooler. It will help to add depth and soften the overall feel. Even if the walls are creamier, try adding crisp white accessories to freshen the decor.

An all white room is classic. High maintenance perhaps, and probably best when small children have grown and left the nest. You don’t want to live in a home that is precious. This creates tension and that simply won’t do. If you are certain you can handle the glamorous all white palette and have kids, choose a formal space, bathroom or kitchen to deck out in the pearly white colour..way less pressure.

If the white on white is still making you nervous, choose white art, white taps, all white decorator pieces like platters and plates or white lights. This will still add the fresh pop you are looking for and create some vibrant features for your home.

White is my go to base colour for most interiors. White can be The Hampton’s style. White can be a super minimalistic style. White can be a soothing country style. White can be all you want to be.

So my design tip is this. Choose some paint pots, or fabrics and start splashing that milky whiteness around. All around.

Weekend Round Up | What I Wore at Night

Weekend Round Up | What I Wore at Night

Work Shmirk…let’s forget what we all wore to work last week..and focus on what we wore to play.

I had 2 great events at night and I stuck to the standard Melbourne colour of the night..Black.

Event One | Catherine Martin Fabric Launch for Mokum. Wednesday night was an industry event to see the unveiling of a magnificent fabric and wallpaper range. Catherine Martin |Baz Lurhmanns’ wife | created a stunning collection of lush velvets and silks, aptly named Metropolis. Based on The Great Gatsby Deco inspired motifs and patterns, it is a beautiful and unique array of visual and textural deliciousness… So I wore | Witchery Black lacquered jeans, Zara White Silk Shirt, Guess Murky Green Faux Fur Jacket and super cool Husk Gold and Emerald Drop Earrings.

Event Two | My Significant Others Birthday at Rosetta. Saturday night was dinner for 6 at the amazing Rosetta Italian restaurant at Crown. A stunning space, filled with marble and velvet and uber chic Italian waiters, and a menu to die for.

So I wore | Witchery Black Lace Scalloped Skirt, Witchery Black Silk Cargo shirt, sans camisole so I chose a stunning La Perla Rose Embroidered peek-a-boo Bra, Custom made China copy woollen Black Capelet, and the jewellery party was all shiny blue, gold and crystal choker from Forever New. Super high super pointy Divolina Black Patent kicks, that are definitely only to be worn from car to restaurant and straight back home again.

I think my feet are starting to protest from all the years of too high shoes…It’s beginning to hurt! A lot! No pain no gain..i guess..

All in all another great week. Perfect life balance.

Catherine Martins’ Gatsby Inspired | Fabric Launch

Chuffed to be invited to celebrate the launch of  The Metropolis Range. Such a beautiful collection of fabrics and wallpapers…I swoon…

Academy Award winning production and costume designer Catherine Martin has applied her theatrical style to the Metropolis collection – a new range of fabrics and wallpapers in collaboration with Mokum. It is just like stepping inside the glamorous 1920’s. The Mokum showroom in Hawthorn was completely decked out with all things Gatsby. Panels of  Catherines’ wall papers, Deco inspired screens and all the sumptuous velvets in a myriad of chic smokey colours.

Martin’s second collection with Mokum, Metropolis captures not only the rich decorative nature of Art Deco but also its geometric modernism. The Metropolis textile collection includes two luxurious velvets: Velvet Splendour, a bold printed floral and Limelight Velvet, a tonal yet graphic jacquard. There is a return to embroidered linen, creating the exotic geometric Metropolis and two elegant trims: Charleston Pearls Ribbon and Metropolis Ribbon. This is complemented by the Charleston Pearls drapery, which was inspired by pearl strands, so very fashionable in the Deco period.

The emerald green floral wallpaper is stunning. It is called Splendour, in Colour Peacock. It also is available in a velvet. This fabric is just adorable. You simply must find somewhere to use this fabric. Here are a few other options from this amazing range

It was a really nice launch. Mokum went all out. Lot’s of designers and the like mingling, clinking champs glasses and oohing and ahhing over a stunning fabric and paper range. Oh and let’s not forget the huge table of cheeses….Almost worth it just for that.

Mid Week Inspiration | Bisazza Mosaico

There are many ways to dress a room, and the trend moving forward is all about the glass tile. And my favourite of all is Bisazza Mosaica. Bisazza is one of the top luxury brands in the design sector and the industry’s leading producer of glass mosaic for interior and exterior decoration.

Established in 1956 in Alte Vicenza, Northern Italy, the company has become a trailblazer, marked by a dynamic, unique producer of materials that can anticipate the needs of the global market.

Whether it is a solid colour with a speckle of another shimmering shade… or an entire ‘mural’ style floral mosaic displaying softness, a herringbone gold and bronze pattern or a diamond printed wall, Bisazza can accommodate any interior designers’ whim.

Mosaic features are perfect for showrooms, outdoors, indoors, hotels, homes and water spaces. It can be the main concept of a store or a feature bathroom or living space in your home. A ‘Bisazza’ style pool can be a decorative element for an outdoor area, placing stunning tiled flowers and shimmering mosaic patterns along the floor and walls of your pool and surrounding area.

So take just one wall or an entire room…and consider the mosaic experience. It’s a powerful feature that will no doubt add glamour and a unique style to any project.

So go for it…embrace Bisazza..I know I do..

Weekend Round Up | What I Wore |Black ‘n White

This past week in Melbourne was warm then cold, then warmer, then freezing…and wind..lots of strong wind. This crazy Spring weather can wreak havoc with a girls staple working wardrobe. To combat the elements..wear layers. It’s as simple as that.

photoI try to mix my style a little..but i always seem to fall back to the safe black pants option. This week I tried to add some skirt action…to keep myself guessing.

Corporate Mode| So I wore : Cable Navy Blue Wool skirt, Nine West Nude Point and Buckle kicks, Zara White Tee, Sass & Bide Navy and Cream Capelet plus Ray Ban Polarized shades.

Playing it Safe | So I Wore : Witchery Black Skinny jeans, Robert Robert Black Patent Pointed Stilettos, Zara Black V neck Tee, Hermes Black Patent belt plus my ‘go to’ fave faux fur vest from Phlanel.

Another Skirt Day What? | So I Wore: Zara Black Swing Skirt, Witchery Black and Gold Zip Ankle boots, Witchery Black Sheer Cargo shirt, Sass & Bide Camellia Neck candy plus Hermes Black Click Bracelet.

Have a great week and try to break out of your routine go to’s fun!
